James first week home

The first week home with a newborn sure is crazy.  I was so glad to have my parents help.  My mom took James at night a few times and they both watched Miles during the day.  I feel like Miles takes energy during the day, and James takes it during the night.  Put that together and you can get a little tired!  James was eating every 2.5 to 3 hours, sometimes sooner.  Feeding him took about an hour, so I was of course tired.  However, since I had rest at the hospital, and the delivery was easier, my recovery went much faster.  It felt great to be able to do things again.

The day after we arrived home from the hospital my dad and I took James to the pediatrician.  He was born 7 lbs 12 oz and weighed 7 lbs 5 oz when we left.  Well by the next afternoon he was back to 7 lbs 10 oz! At his 2 week appointment he weighed 8 lbs 13 oz- yay!  I feel like James is a better eater than Miles and breastfeeding has been much less of a struggle for whatever reason.

James is a sweet little guy.  He is easily comforted if held and has a sweet disposition.  He can be a noisy little guy (grunts, squeals, etc), especially when stretching.  After just a few days of being home we noticed him smiling when we did certain things.  I love his smile. He is lifting his head well and takes a pacifier, but doesn't need it most of the time.

You can see his smile a little bit below, although I haven't quite captured it yet
