Fourth of July

For the 4th of July we kept it pretty low key.  Richard grilled dinner and we had watermelon and baked beans as sides.  Then we tried to make s'mores, somewhat successfully.  At night, we got Miles ready for bed and set off some fireworks that we bought at the grocery store before he had to go to bed.  He LOVED them at first, but then we had one loud one.  After that he was nervous that they would be loud and wouldn't take his hands off his ears.  Oops!  Overall he must have enjoyed it, though, because the next night he requested fireworks.  It was also fun that some of our neighbors Diane and Nancy came out and watched the fireworks with us.  We love our neighborhood!

Trying to roast marshmallows, but the fire had died down too much

Miles preferred to eat his s'more in separate parts

Unfortunately I didn't get a happy picture of Miles watching fireworks.  This was after the loud one.  Refer to the videos below for proof that he really did love them at first.
