So I am going to start with the Burton beach trip! It feels like so long ago already! The trip started out with one little hiccup when we had been flying for 40 minutes and the pilot said we were going to have to turn around because the cargo door light was going off. I was sooo sad. We were almost halfway there! So we turned around, landed, got off the plane, and then they found a new airplane for us within an hour (pretty fast actually). Amazingly, Miles was even better behaved on the second flight!
The rest of the vacation was wonderful. We had a lot of rain and overcast days, but in May that really didn't matter too much. We just wanted to hang out and relax. We still made it out to the beach almost every day, despite the weather.
While we were there we celebrated a few things. First, we had a baby shower for Richard's sister Diane. Pictures and details are in the next blog post. And Richard and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary! 5 years is a big deal! I feel so grown up :) Richard's parents babysat while we went on a date to a very nice restaurant and then bought peanut butter fudge in remembrance of Ti Kaye in St. Lucia (Jamie, do you remember that stuff?).
The house we stayed at was huge, and we all had our own rooms with our own bathrooms. Miles slept in our bathroom actually, and it was wonderful. We had an amazingly nice room and it really made it hard to leave. We were not ready to head home and deal with the move that was waiting for us! Thank you Richard and Emmy for an amazing trip!!!
Waiting at the airport
After church on Sunday
Miles holding Sophia's hair on the ride home from church. Silly boy. Sophia was sweet to let him do it.
Miles in his swim diaper before getting in his swim trunks.
Although it took him awhile to warm up to the waves, he enjoyed the sand right away. It didn't help that he fell in the water in his clothes the first day we arrived and got soaked!
Sophia played so nicely with Miles all week. She was very patient with him.
Look at those cool sunglasses Peter and Diane bought Miles.
Emmy walking Miles to sleep on the beach
Sleeping babies are the sweetest
This is actually the next day when it was so windy that Miles just snuggled into me the whole time. I didn't mind one bit!
We rented a bike and infant trailer that Richard used with Miles. They both loved it!
At the indoor swimming pool
Miles was always trying to get Mary's attention during dinner and was so silly with her. I love the moment this picture captures...it is exactly what happened every night.
Cousins!!!!
Grandpa reading to Miles and Sophia...sweet moment
Miles is obsessed with my hair
Heading out on our date to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary
Sophia is definitely ready to be a big sister. She was a huge help!
In all of our Michigan (and Redskins gear) headed to Cosmos for dinner
Group shot!
