The Paci Fairy

A few weeks ago we decided it was time for the Paci Fairy to come visit us.  We prepared him by only letting him use the paci at night/naps and I explained that soon the Paci Fairy was going to come and he would leave her his pacifiers and she would leave him presents.  I said that the babies needed them.  He kept saying, 'Miles need them!.'  Well one night as we were getting ready for bath I explained that she was coming tonight and we needed to go get his pacis so he could get his presents!  We really tried to get excited about it and it helped a lot!  We left them on the front porch in an envelope and when he came out of the bath he was excited to go outside and find his presents.  The Paci Fairy left him some cars from the Cars movie and a superhero cape and mask.  He was very excited!

The first night or two was tough, but after that the transition has been much better than expected.  He has been attached to his paci since his second night home from the hospital, so I knew this would be hard for him.  He only asks about his paci occasionally and doesn't get upset. Night sleep is great, but he did stop sleeping during his naps as soon as the paci was gone.  He has an owl alarm clock that turns green when it is time to get up, so he still stays in his room for the 2 hours.  He is tired and is always happier after that quiet time, even if he doesn't nap.  Plus I really need the time for work!  But now that it has been a few weeks he has started sleeping during some of that time which is great.

I am so glad the paci is gone before he is 3 and before James comes.  I didn't want to do it too close to when James arrived.

So sweet! Where did you get the glowing alarm clock? I think Anna might like something like that for quiet time.

Ugh, I need to do this! I am so scared of taking them away, even though they are only used during sleeping and times of serious distress. I don't think Logan would understand the paci fairy yet and I am not ready for him to digress in the sleeping department. Let's be honest, I need these binkys too :) I am glad Miles is handling it like a pro!

Very good idea! We just cut the tip off Grant's and told him it was broken. He kept telling us to go to the store for a new one haha. But it still only took 2-3 days for him to be all right. I think presents might have helped :).
