Sugar cookies!

Last Friday we had our neighbor Elena and her daughter Julia over to make sugar cookies.  I was a little nervous about the whole process, since I haven't made them in years, but they turned out great!  I decided to make it easy on myself and buy the Betty Crocker cookie icing that comes in a squeeze pouch.  They were nice because the kids could actually help us squeeze the icing out onto the cookies.  And I didn't have to worry about making icing and dying it!

Miles and Julia both helped a little with the cookie cutting, but it was the decorating part that was the most fun for them.  When we first pulled the cookies out of the oven, Miles and Julia couldn't wait to decorate.  Miles ate the head off his snowman as soon as I gave it to him, before I could have him start decorating.  So after each eating a cookie, we got started decorating.

It turned out to be so much fun, and totally worth the mess.  Miles especially LOVED eating his cookies.  We will definitely make sugar cookies a tradition.

Here's a picture of both kids eating the cookies before decorating.  Notice the nice clean table before we got started :)

His first cookie creation

Miles and Julia especially enjoyed the red hots.  Eat two, put one on the cookie was about how it went...

Enjoying the fruits of his labors.  Yeah, he didn't eat much lunch that day.  Wonder why!
