Go Tigers!

When we moved to Connecticut we were excited to discover that the local minor league baseball team is the Tigers (related to the Detroit Tigers).  We definitely still have tiger pride, from living in Michigan, so we wanted to go to a game before the end of summer.  We were going to go on Friday night, but Miles ended up not napping, because he fell asleep for 5 minutes in the car on the way home from morning shopping.  Ah!  Since it was going to be a late night we decided to go Saturday night instead.  It was raining where we live, but the stadium is 30 minutes away and the weather forecast did not say rain.  So we took a chance!

Well we got there at 7pm, they started playing at 7:30pm (supposed to start at 7:05pm), and then it started raining at about 7:33pm.  Yeah, bummer!  So we waited around for 45 minutes, ate some ice cream (and a hot dog for Richard), and took pics with the tiger mascot.  Thankfully it cleared up for a few minutes before we had to leave (it was 8:30pm and Miles usually goes to bed at 7:30pm).  So we got to watch half an inning- haha.

BUT the cool thing is as we left the stadium a foul ball hit a car right next to us!  So we got a foul ball!  I have to say that did make me feel better about not being able to see much baseball :)  It was a fun outing and we will definitely try again next year, since there are no more home games this season.

Before the game starts (glad we got the pic in before the rain!)

Still carrying the block...

Uh oh not looking good...

That is so funny. We had an IDENTICAL experience a few months ago. We went to a game which was rained out right after the opening pitch and ended up at IHOP. Those clouds were just the same. It was 45 minutes away so took some planning. We made a second go of it though a couple of weeks later and it was perfect.
