Halloween

Trick or treating was so much fun this year.  I was a little worried that I had built it up too much in my mind, but it totally lived up to my expectations.  We started out by carving pumpkins an hour or so before trick or treating started.  Just a little last minute!  Kids started knocking on our door at about 5:30pm, but it really got started around 6:00pm.  We ran out of candy a little before 7:00pm.  It was crazy!  I had bought over 200 pieces of candy, but I will definitely have to buy more next year. There were so many kids coming that I just ended up standing outside, since it was easier than standing with the door open for 5-10 minutes at a time.  The reason we have so many kids is because there are not many neighborhoods in our town.  So there are literally cars lining the streets and our home owner's association hires a state trooper for the night.

We took Miles out at around 5:50pm, before it go too crazy.  I left a bowl of candy on the porch, so that I could go to a few houses with Miles and Richard.  Miles was a little overwhelmed at first, even though we had practiced what to do a few days beforehand.  After a few houses he would knock, say trick or treat (when prompted), pick out the candy and put it in his bag (he was good at that part), say thank you and bye (videos below).  Even more than trick or treating, I think Miles just loved walking around with all of the kids.  He did not want to come inside.  After about 6 or 7 houses, I ran back to our house to hand out candy.  After we ran out of candy I joined Miles and Richard outside.  At 8pm we came home and he realized he gets to EAT the candy.  That kid ate a 3 Musketeers bar so fast that he seriously had chocolate dripping out of his nose.  I do not know how that is possible.  He also ate M&Ms and a lollipop.  What a happy boy :)  Miles went to bed at 8:30pm and we were exhausted!

Trick or treating house #5

I tried to get a video of how busy one of the streets was, but it was too dark to really see...

Our little monkey.  Waving to the other trick or treaters.  He just wants to say hi to everyone, sweet boy :)

After a few houses, he was starting to get the idea

Glad our neighbor Nancy took a pic of us, so that I'm in one of the pics :)
