California: Part 4 (Stomach Bug, Visiting Friends, Travelling home)

On Saturday night we put Miles to bed and headed to Richard's parents' hotel room to hang out with all of the family.  As we were visiting, Miles woke up and had a hard time going back to sleep, because he had a runny nose.  After several times of trying to get him to go back to sleep, we ended up having him sleep with us.  Then at 3am, I woke up to Richard throwing up.  Both of these guys sick?  Goodness!  Luckily, Miles only had a cold (which I also got).  He just wasn't used to being sick and had a hard time sleeping that first night.  However, poor Richard.  Richard threw up 5 times that day, with what we determined was the Stomach Flu.

Sunday afternoon Miles and I met Jessica, Parker, and Austin at a park in Del Mar.  It was right on the beach and gorgeous.  I'm convinced she was trying to persuade me to move there, by having me come to this park.  It was beautiful.  We had such a nice visit and it was so good to catch up!  I miss seeing Jessica several times a week back in Ann Arbor.  Whenever Miles sees a plane he still points to it and says Parker!

Sunday night we decided to change our Monday flight to an afternoon flight, since our flight was originally scheduled to leave at 6:30am on Monday morning.  No way that was happening with Richard sick.  We ordered room service, and I continued to use antibacterial hand soap and Lysol wipes every 5 minutes in the hopes of not getting Miles or I sick.

Thankfully Miles and I never got sick and Richard felt better enough in the morning to be able to fly home.  Miles even slept on the plane for a couple of hours, which was amazing. So what if I had to sit on the floor in between our seats and the seats in front of us, to give Miles room to lie down?  Worth it!

Miles loved the bus ride from the rental car place to the airport.  Such an adventure!

You are a brave, good mama to sit on the floor so Miles could lay down! Sometimes it's so worth it to do whatever it takes while traveling. Glad you two didn't get what Richard had. Hope you had a great birthday yesterday!
